Plus size clothing Women: How to Dress for Your Body Shape


It takes patience and a lot of trials to find clothes that help you dress for your body shape. Where most people struggle is failing to identify and understand their own shape, and which clothes work best for various parts of their body.
The most common body shapes for women are pear, apple, hourglass, and rectangle. You could even be a blend of two shapes, depending on your height and weight. It is essential, therefore, that you try on clothes when you go for shopping. Do keep in mind, however, that the suggestions listed below are just that, and not rules etched in stone.

Apple

You know your body is apple shaped if you have slim legs, a large chest, and you carry most of your weight in your tummy and the top half of your body. The idea is to divert attention from your tummy, and draw it towards your slim legs and narrow hips.
You should opt for tailored and structured pieces when shopping. Ideally, V-neck shirts, A-line cuts, printed bottoms, hip-length single breasted jackets, drop waist tops, straight leg and skinny jeans, and knee length pencil skirts are suitable and desirable options. Shorts can be a good choice too, given that most apple-shaped women have slim legs.

Pear

The most common characteristics in women with pear shaped bodies include thick thighs and legs, wide hips, narrow shoulders, and a small defined waist. The pear shape is generally considered to be the most common amongst women today. You should attempt to balance your upper body with the lower half, ideally with tailored clothes, as it can be difficult to find bottoms that fit your small waist and ample hips properly.
Your wardrobe should include a variety of flared bottoms, flat front pants, detailed and printed tops, long blazers and jackets, A-line cuts, and boot-cut jeans. Belts can also help you showcase your small waist.

Hourglass

Extremely difficult to achieve, most women would kill for an hourglass figure. Think Princess Jasmine, or nearly every Disney Princess for that matter. A large chest, a round full bottom, and a defined waist - what more could a woman want? If you’re fortunate enough to have an hourglass figure, try to wear clothes that fit so that they flatter your curves. Hint: You will turn all heads when wearing classic cuts and styles.
Since you are so fortunate, you can wear simply anything under the sun and get away with it, except of course tops and dresses so billowy and loose that they entirely disguise your figure. The recommended styles for you include the classic silhouettes, such as a shift dress, peplum, and pencil skirts. Your clothes should be more on the tailored side and they should be structured.

Rectangle


Women who have a rectangle shape can often appear boyish and slightly boxy; given their usual characteristics include same sized bust and hips with an undefined waist. Therefore, they should opt for clothes that provide the illusion of a considerably more curvy body shape. Bold prints, tiered styles, ruffled tops, heavy knits, pants and jeans with wide legs, peplum, and asymmetrical cuts, such as tulip skirts.
